Graphic Overlay Products

Compare all six approved routes before deciding which front-surface construction belongs on the drawing.

Custom Graphic Overlays

Custom Graphic Overlays

Flexible printed PET or polycarbonate faces with windows, key features, cutouts, hard coats, and rear adhesive.

Choose it when: Choose this route when the front surface must flex, follow a panel outline, or become the face of a membrane switch.

Acrylic Panels and Nameplates

Acrylic Panels and Nameplates

Rigid PMMA front panels and cover lenses with printed graphics, display openings, shaped edges, and adhesive or hardware mounting.

Choose it when: Useful when a rigid clear panel is needed without the weight or edge behavior of glass.

View Acrylic Panels and Nameplates
Glass Nameplates

Glass Nameplates

Printed glass front surfaces for premium controls, display windows, dead-front graphics, and high scratch exposure.

Choose it when: Review thickness, edge finish, impact risk, printing surface, and mounting method together.

View Glass Nameplates
Label Nameplates

Label Nameplates

Printed identification labels for ratings, warnings, serial information, barcodes, branding, and equipment instructions.

Choose it when: Best when the part communicates or identifies rather than acting as a complete operator panel.

View Label Nameplates
Doming Label Nameplates

Doming Label Nameplates

Printed labels protected by a clear raised resin dome for badges, logos, product marks, and durable visual emphasis.

Choose it when: Use when the brand element needs depth and gloss, then validate edge shape and adhesive support.

View Doming Label Nameplates
Metal Nameplates

Metal Nameplates

Aluminum, stainless, or other metal identification plates with printed, etched, or marked information.

Choose it when: Choose metal when heat, abrasion, solvents, or permanent equipment identification dominates the decision.

Match the Graphic Overlay Route to the Front Surface

The visible artwork may be similar, but the correct construction changes with stiffness, exposure, display needs, mounting, and how the operator touches the product.

Material, Print, Finish, and Adhesive Form One System

A front panel succeeds when the substrate, ink, window treatment, surface finish, adhesive, and enclosure surface are reviewed under the same operating conditions.

Substrate

Flexible PET or polycarbonate, rigid acrylic or glass, label films, doming systems, and metal plate options.

Printing

Spot-color screen printing, process-color routes, reverse printing, transparent windows, and controlled opaque areas.

Surface

Gloss, matte, textured, selective clear areas, hard coats, dead-front effects, and protective films.

Mounting

Pressure-sensitive adhesive, selective adhesive zones, hardware holes, edge support, and assembly fixtures.

From Artwork to a Production Front Surface

1

Application Review

Define the panel, operator, cleaning method, exposure, mounting surface, and expected quantity.

2

Artwork Preflight

Review vectors, colors, cut lines, windows, legends, keep-outs, emboss areas, and revision control.

3

Material and Process

Select the substrate, print route, finish, adhesive, tooling, and inspection criteria.

4

First Article

Approve appearance, dimensions, window behavior, bond fit, and assembly on the real enclosure.

5

Production Release

Lock the approved revision, inspection method, packaging, and change-control path.

ARTWORK AND PRODUCTION CONTROL

Factory Review Should Resolve the Expensive Questions First

Color approval alone is not enough. JASPER reviews the artwork against the cut geometry, display opening, adhesive perimeter, surface finish, enclosure, and assembly sequence before the project is released.

Artwork ownership

Controlled files, named layers, revision marks, and an approved visual proof.

Registration

Print, window, emboss, and die-cut relationships checked as one geometry.

Enclosure fit

Adhesive land, edge clearance, recess depth, texture, and installation pressure reviewed.

Production evidence

Appearance, dimensions, bond preparation, and project-specific tests defined before release.

Graphic Overlays for Custom OEM Panels FAQs

What is the difference between a graphic overlay and a membrane switch?

A graphic overlay is the visible printed front surface. A membrane switch adds the spacer, switching circuit, tail, connector, and optional tactile or lighting components beneath that surface.

Should we choose PET, polycarbonate, acrylic, glass, or metal?

Start with flexibility, impact, scratch exposure, cleaning chemicals, UV, display-window needs, mounting surface, and expected life. The material should be selected with the print, finish, and adhesive rather than as an isolated sheet.

Can JASPER review early artwork before tooling?

Yes. Send the artwork, cut outline, window locations, enclosure surface, colors, finish, environment, and quantity. Early review can expose registration, edge, adhesive, and readability risks before tooling.
